20 years ago, Seaglaze Marine Windows worked with Clipper Ventures in delivering doors for its fleet of 20 round-the-world yachts.
These yachts annually participate in The Clipper Race with their amateur crews, being one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other. With no previous sailing experience necessary, it’s a record breaking 40,000 nautical mile race around the world for often newbie sailors, on board a 70-foot ocean racing yacht.
The fleet and their equipment have to withstand all the sea stages thown at them. In addition, they have to deliver to the demands of a full time crew living in cramped conditions. The yachts’ doors are of no exception, being specifically designed to ensure watertight compartments are made to aid crew safety in the unfortunate event of an accident.
This year, 20 years on from their first fitting, the fleet’s set of doors required refurbishment. Once again, Clipper asked Seaglaze to provide the solution. The timing was tight, as the yachts were due to be prepped ready for their start date, however true to form, the Seaglaze team delivered, in time and on budget.
